A personal experience with EECP & Neuropathy

For years, I lived with constant discomfort in my feet.

What began as a mild tingling sensation gradually turned into persistent numbness, burning pain, and hypersensitivity. Simple, everyday activities — walking, standing for extended periods, even sleeping — became increasingly difficult. You can probably see where this is going ☹.

I tried medications and various treatments, but nothing provided lasting relief. I felt like I was losing control of my own body. It was frustrating, exhausting, and honestly scary because I didn’t not know what to do.

I was eventually introduced to a therapy called EECP (Enhanced External Counterpulsation) — not specifically for neuropathy, but as a way to improve circulation and overall vascular health. At first, I was skeptical, I actually became a little bitter. After years of limited success, it was hard to believe something non-invasive could make a meaningful difference.

But I decided to try it anyway.

During each (EECP) session, a specialized set of cuffs gently compressed my legs in rhythm with my heartbeat, helping to increase blood flow and oxygen delivery throughout my body. We (the staff at THRIVE Xcel in Draper Utah) started with a low setting, increasing intensity with every session, seriously, after each session it felt like I had hiked a mountain.

After a few weeks, I began to notice subtle changes. After my tenth session the change was significant. The burning sensation in my feet started to ease. The numbness wasn’t as intense, and I could stand longer without discomfort, and I slept through an entire night without waking to unbearable pain.

By the end of my treatment cycle, the improvement was undeniable.

It wasn’t an overnight miracle. In fact, at the start of the sessions, I absolutely hated the therapy. But it was real. I felt more alive again.

I understand that neuropathy is complex and varies from person to person, the improvement in my symptoms gave me something I hadn’t felt in a long time — relief.

More importantly, it gave me freedom. Return to morning walks with my wife, more time on my feet with out dreading the potential ache and discomfort I just “accepted” as getting older.

EECP didn’t just help my circulation — it gave me part of my life back. Is EECP for everyone? Probably not - but having suffered from neuropathy with NOTHING working for me, it is EECP that saved me. Do your own research but if you’re in a similar situation that I was, give EECP a serious look.
