Although the name sounds complicated, the treatment itself is surprisingly simple.
During an EECP session, you lie comfortably on a treatment table while a series of specialized cuffs are wrapped around your calves, thighs, and hips. These cuffs inflate and deflate in perfect synchronization with your heartbeat using advanced ECG monitoring.
This carefully timed compression helps move oxygen-rich blood back toward the heart during the heart's resting phase.
The result is improved circulation throughout the body while reducing the workload placed on the heart.
How Does EECP Work?
Think of EECP as giving your circulatory system an extra helping hand.
Every time your heart relaxes between beats, the cuffs gently compress in sequence—from your calves upward—helping push blood back toward your heart.

The cuffs inflate firmly around the legs in rhythm with your heartbeat. While the compression is noticeable, most patients adjust quickly.
In fact, many people read, watch television, listen to music, or even nap during their treatment.
Each session lasts about one hour, and a typical treatment program consists of 35 sessions, usually completed over seven weeks.
Is EECP FDA Approved?
Yes.
EECP is an FDA-approved therapy for certain patients with chronic stable angina and has been studied extensively for decades.
It is also covered by Medicare for qualifying patients with refractory angina who meet specific medical criteria.
As with any medical treatment, coverage depends on individual diagnoses and insurance plans.
